Unlock New Skills with a OneNote Digital Breakout.
Have you heard of a break out or escape room? I’m sure the answer is yes because this seems to be the latest buzz right now in the entertainment arena but also in the #edtech world. #OneNote Breakouts are our favorite. Our teammate, Bob Eikenberry, took the lead on this project last spring and it has taken off like wildfire in our district. We invited Bob on the show to tell us a bit more about how he creates a breakout in OneNote. Check out that interview below. 👇

One of our favorite Podcasters, Gabriel Carrillo with EdTechBites, has an episode where he and Lauren Snyder talk all about the ins and outs of breakout basics. You will definitely want to check out Ep. 41: Lauren, Corn Tortillas, and Digital Breakouts. Here are some of our favorite takeaways from that episode:
- Make sure your students use a recording sheet for their answers.
- Sweep the classroom after class to make sure no answer sheets were left behind.
- Have a theme or a story.
- Use puzzles.
- Test out the breakout with a co-worker or students before you use it in class to see their reactions and to find errors.
- Test out links on campus prior to doing the lesson.
- Use hint cards for differentiation.
- Think outside the box.
